Government Agrees in Principle to Two CJP Demands, Standoff Continues Over Pradhan’s Resignation
The Central Government has agreed in principle to two of the three key demands raised by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) during the second round of talks held on Friday. However, the biggest point of disagreement remains the CJP’s demand for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, with the government seeking more time before responding. Government Accepts Two Demands in Principle
Following nearly two hours of discussions between CJP leaders and Union Ministers J.P. Nadda and Jitendra Singh, CJP spokespersons said the government has expressed in-principle approval for:
- Compensation for the families of students who allegedly died by suicide following the NEET paper leak controversy.
- Withdrawal of FIRs and legal cases filed against student protesters. (Rediff)
Pradhan’s Resignation Remains the Main Sticking Point
Despite progress on the other demands, the CJP maintained that Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation is non-negotiable. According to the group, the government has requested time until Saturday afternoon to provide its final response on the issue. CJP leaders said the protest will continue until a decision is made. Another Round of Talks Scheduled
Union Minister J.P. Nadda confirmed that both sides will meet again on Saturday after the government reviews the remaining demand. Officials described the discussions as constructive, while emphasizing that further consultations are needed before reaching a final decision. (Rediff)
Bottom Line
The latest talks mark the first significant breakthrough since the protests began, with the government signaling willingness to address compensation and legal action against protesters. However, the movement’s central demand—the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan—remains unresolved, leaving the negotiations at a critical stage. (The Times of India)
